European Ski Holidays

Skiing in Europe is the ideal way to spend your vacation. If you love skiing, you are guaranteed to find a great resort somewhere, within your budget that meets your needs, and caters for your ability. Skiing in Europe is much more rugged, much more exciting, a much greater challenge and really fun. Anyway, they don't have it all spelled out for you when they run out of snow at the bottom of the slope and they don’t have a chair to get you up or down all the way. Skiing in Europe is pretty different from skiing in the States in a few ways. Firstly, there are loads of hotels, chalets, apartments, and self-catering accommodation within the ski resort itself, all with relatively easy access directly to the ski slopes (or pistes, as they are called).

Skiing in Europe is very different than skiing in the States. The Alps are like the Rockies on steroids; very steep and imposing.

France and Canada are two of the few countries generally permitting this activity. In the United States, Off-Site skiing regulations vary by ski area; many ski resorts prohibit it and some simply post warning signs that skiers are leaving the patrolled ski area boundaries. France is known the world over as the true home of skiing, and the French really know how to do a quality vacation. With naturally amazing resources, and scenery that can take your breath away, France is an ideal location for a skiing trip. France, however, charges for mountain rescue service. To buy ski insurance with your daily or weekly lift passes, you must ask for it from ticket sales people because they will not necessarily offer it otherwise.

Chamonix is unrivalled for choice of drinking establishments in the Alps. Chambre Neuf , opposite the train station, is always rammed in the aprés ski slot, when the in-house band draws in masses of Swedes and Brits. Chamonix in the shadow of the wonderful Mont Blanc is the uncrowned king of European ski towns. It's the sort of place that ski operators and their staffs go at the close of the season to have some fun skiing. European ski holidays has become so popular in recent years that resorts are really starting to feel the financial rewards.
